Gym membership?

Im thinking about joining a gym. I currently go to my local operated one but their exercise equiptment range isnt good. What are the membership prices of gyms such as Bannatynes, Total fitness, David Lloyds etc. So i can get a rough idea on prices. Thanks. I live in Middlesbrough, UK

  1. Mine was about £60 per month (Virgin) with a signing on fee. If you get the prices, they might let you off the signing on fee if you mention considering another gym. They want your business so will negotiate with you!!
  2. Virgin Active gyms are really good. Membership is about £40 for a 12 month contract. If you don't want a 12 month contract, then is costs £50.
  3. i go to my local sport centre and pay £37 a month, i get free swimming, use of all facilities, ie gym any classes that i want to attend, running clubs, the only thing i would have to pay for is racket sports. i think its excellent value for money and have been a member for over 2 years now. no signing on fee and no 12 month contract you can even suspend your membership if your on holiday or going into hospital
  4. JJB are about 30 - 40, but you can also ask for a discount - they do do them for various companiesm and you never know you might be entuitled to one (and also for students, and peolpe going off peak) Christmas is coming so there will be a few offering deals then
  5. I use JJB Prices are:- £36.00 peak membership £26.00 off peak membership (8am - 4pm Monday to Friday, all day at weekends) £19.95 off peak for students and over 60s The above prices include full use of gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room, all fitness classes and personalised programmes to help you achieve your goals. All gyms have a range of CV equipment, weights machines, fitness studios and a free weights area.
